Creams, lotions, butters. Cheap, in between, pricey. Endless list of ingredients I can't even pronounce, much less know what they mean. Confusing, to say the least.
Enter DIY body butter. Be the kind best friend your skin needs! I love this recipe because 1. it´s super easy to make; 2. it's not super greasy, and it is well and easily absorbed by my skin.
Whipping it is an optional step, but it does make the consistency smoother and lighter, and it also responds better to temperature fluctuations.
15-20 drops essential oil* (my favourites are Frankincense, Lavender, TeaTree and Melrose)
6 T coconut oil
2 T shea butter
1. In a double boiler, warm coconut oil and shea butter until melted completely.
2. Remove from heat, and place in the refrigerator for 10 minutes, or until it is just set but not hardened.
3. Stir in Essential Oils
4. Whip until peaks form
5. Transfer to a jar or container. Store at room temperature (temperature variations may melt or solidify the body butter)
6. Massage into dry skin!
*Not all essential oil types and/or brands are skin safe or kid safe, please do your research before adding.
